What this website does not do

It sets no cookies. It embeds no fonts, scripts, maps or videos from other servers. There is no analytics, no reach measurement and no ad network. There is no contact form and no user account.

Exactly one page is exempt: the purchase page. It loads the payment window of our payment provider. What happens there is described under „The purchase page" below — on every other page it does not happen.

Server logs

When a page is requested, your browser transmits technical data that our web server logs: IP address, date and time, the file requested, the amount of data transferred, the page visited before, and details about your browser and operating system.

We need this data to deliver the site and to detect attacks on the server. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure operation, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We do not combine the logs with other data and do not evaluate them with regard to your person. They are deleted after fourteen days at the latest.

If you write to us

If you send us an email, we process your address and the content of your message in order to answer it. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. We keep the message as long as the matter is ongoing, and beyond that only as far as we are legally required to.

Your rights

You may request access to the data we hold about you (Article 15 GDPR) as well as its rectification (16), erasure (17), restriction of processing (18) and portability (20). You may object to processing based on a legitimate interest (21). An informal email to the address above is enough.

You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The one responsible for us is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht, Promenade 27, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.

The purchase page

The purchase runs in a payment window provided by Paddle. The program for it is loaded from a Paddle server — Paddle unavoidably learns your IP address and technical details about your browser, and Paddle may set cookies that are necessary for processing and fraud prevention.

This happens only once you open the purchase page, and only there. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR: you open that page because you want to buy, and without the payment window that is not possible. What Paddle processes beyond this is set out in Paddle's own privacy policy.

Purchase and licence

The purchase is handled by our payment provider Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited, 30 Old Bailey, London EC4M 7AU, United Kingdom). Paddle acts as the seller (merchant of record) and is independently responsible for the payment data; we never see your card or bank details. What Paddle collects is set out in Paddle's own privacy policy.

From Paddle we receive your email address and the order details for a purchase. We use them to generate your licence key and send it to you. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the contract). We keep the order and the licence as long as the licence is valid, and beyond that as long as commercial and tax law require.

When you redeem the key in acsMacL, exactly two items go to our licence server: the key itself and an identifier of your Mac. That identifier is not a device serial number but a salted hash of one — it cannot be reversed and tells us nothing about your machine. We need it to bind the key to the device you redeemed it on. No name, email address or system details are transmitted.

Beta access

If you ask for a beta place, we process the email address you write from: to send you the licence key, and to know whose it is if you change machines later. We need nothing beyond that and we ask for nothing beyond that. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR: you write to us because you want a key, and without an address we cannot send it.

We keep the address and the key for as long as the licence lasts. There is no newsletter and we pass nothing on to third parties. If you want to be deleted, an informal email is enough. Your licence keeps working — it is checked on your Mac, not by us; we will no longer be able to help you change machines, though, because we will no longer know which key was yours.

The acsMacL application

acsMacL processes your data on your Mac. It signs in nowhere and sends nothing of its own accord — with two exceptions: redeeming your licence key once, and looking for a new version. You trigger the update check yourself; in Settings you can switch it to „at launch". Only a version enquiry is fetched, no identifier is transmitted.

Your search terms, file names, paths and file contents do not leave your machine. The clipboard history is stored encrypted on your Mac; the key lives in your keychain. Content originating from a password manager is not recorded at all.

For search the application needs Full Disk Access, and for the screenshot feature additionally the Screen Recording permission. You grant both in your Mac's System Settings and can revoke them there at any time.

Which version applies

This English text is provided for convenience. The German version is the binding one; where the two differ, the German wording applies.
